When Steve Rogers visits Peggy Carter, she has a family photo on her nightstand and says that she married someone after Cap disappeared. Who did she marry?

@Shevliaskovic, What's the edit, my question and content seem unedited? – Ihor Sypko Apr 16 '14 at 13:51
Some one is combined to someone and in title, there's a space between comma and who.. – Evil Angel Apr 16 '14 at 13:53

With the greenlighting of the new Agent Carter series, we may finally get an answer to this. – phantom42 May 9 '14 at 17:55

The film doesn't state who she married, other than that it was a man that Rogers freed from Hydra on his last mission. In the comics she seems to have never married, so there isn't even any canon from there to draw upon.

Actually, in the Ultimate universe, she married Bucky Barnes, who survived World War 2 and aged naturally alongside her. Obviously, this cannot be true in the Cinematic universe. – Dr R Dizzle May 29 '14 at 9:46

The husband is not named.

io9 speculates that this is because there is an Agent Carter series coming up and they don't want to spoil the surprise.

People have asked who Peggy Carter's husband is. The movie did not say, and if you look carefully, you'll notice her family pictures are conspicuously missing a husband. As mentioned above, there's talk of an Agent Carter TV series, and it's likely the producers don't want to give away who her love interest will be. If I had to guess, I would think they would pair her up with Jeff Mace, the third Captain America (there have been many). He was Cap for the late 40s and married the female secret agent from Cap's origin.

You can read more about the somewhat tortured backstory around that agent and marriage from the comics here.

I thought I read somewhere that she married Gabriel Jones from the Commandoes, but I don't have a reference.

I think this is true in the comics, but I don’t think it’s been addressed in the MCU yet. – alexwlchan Apr 27 '14 at 8:25
According to the Marvel Wikia; they were "romantically involved" but there's no mention of a marriage. – Valorum Apr 27 '14 at 9:43

I don't think it's going to be Gabriel Jones. My guess is the British guy from the Howling Commandoes. Just guessing though. The new guy on S.H.I.E.L.D. is Gabriel's grandson, and I think it would have come out if Peggy were his Grandmother. Also there were only two soldiers marked deceased when Cap was reviewing stuff on the Howling Commandoes and I'm betting one of those was her husband.

Actually the voice over (provided by Lt. Dan himself Gary Sinise) states that Bucky Barnes was the only Howling Commando to give his life in service during the war. The archive footage of Peggy Carter states her husband was someone Captain Rogers rescued after he'd already formed the Howling Commandos so it couldn't be Gabriel Jones regardless. – Monty129 May 14 '14 at 19:02

At no time did it say he wasn't a howling commando and the best bet is Falsworth/Union Jack (the English guy with the Beret) while Gabe Jones IS a possibility I would be more inclined to think that Trip would be her grandson through a mixed marriage... I'd be interested to see if they went the older Luke Cage route and Jessica Jones being her daughter if it 70's set and as I expect Daredevil is more modern... after all they can't use the Spidey origin for her

You'll soon see when they announce casting for Agent Carter, if Falsworth is in it in any form then it's likely him.

She says in the archive footage that the man that would become her husband was rescued by captain Rogers during the winter months, after he'd already rescued Falsworth and formed the Howling Commandoes therefore it couldn't be him. – Monty129 May 28 '14 at 20:43

She didn't say - but neither did she actually marry. The family photo was a fantasy created by Peggy to help her deal with her loss of Steve Rogers.

Any proof for this? – Anthony Grist Apr 22 '14 at 8:39
She actually does say in the archive film that the man she married was someone that Steve rescued on his first mission. – Monty129 Apr 22 '14 at 10:23

Peggy Carter is married to Howard Stark. This makes her Tony Stark's mother.

Do you have some reference for this? In all of the Marvel multiverse it appears that his mother is Maria Carbonell. – Legion600 Apr 19 '14 at 5:20
Captain America: The Winter Soldier refers to Stark's mother as 'Maria Stark'. – user1027 Apr 20 '14 at 2:52
This answer is just wrong. Very wrong. – James Sheridan Apr 21 '14 at 23:00
