The power of Thor is implying that T is the source, lazy shorthand or mis- application for simplicities sake.
Aug 25, 2015 at 14:14 | comment | added | Dr R Dizzle | @kaine That is in the comics, not the films. I'm afraid I really don't know much at all about the comics, but going by the films logic if Odinson gave up Mjolnir he would be about as strong as any other Asgardian, who are strong but not Thor levels of strong. It's worth noting that the strength of Asgardians (and Thor himself) is really poorly defined in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Aug 25, 2015 at 14:07 | comment | added | kaine | @DrRDizzle correct me if I am wrong but I read that Mjonir is (was?) being weilded by a woman who being granted the power of Thor calls herself Thor. As a result, the familiar Thor relinquished the name "Thor" and now goes by "Odinson". I don't know if this story line is concluded yet. Basically I was referring to Thor without the power of Mjonir only because someone else is using it at the moment.

Aug 25, 2015 at 13:58 | comment | added | kaine | so Odinson (Thor but not Thor) essentially just has the powers of his well trained Asgardian friends?
Aug 25, 2015 at 13:29 | comment | added | Dr R Dizzle | @IhorSypko Mjolnir was created for Thor in Norse mythology, so the power it grants belongs to Thor in the same way the hammer does. But whosoever holds Mjolnir, if they be worthy, shall possess that power also.
Aug 25, 2015 at 13:14 | comment | added | Ihor Sypko | "...shall possess the power of Thor." It is this that gives Thor the strength... Isn't this a bit circuitous? Which came first, kind of a chicken and egg problem. I would like to resolve the facts in fiction but am stumped often, so I just go with it.
