Until there is some reason to associate it with a specific person or purpose, any given scent is just one amongst the jumble of literally thousands of others that are in the nose at the moment. But once that association is made most dogs will never forget it. Humans do this too. Ever walk into a place and suddenly think about some childhood memory or a person you know? I'll never smell butter tea and chlorine without automatically getting slightly edgy, for example. I think force sense is associated because its overwhelmingly present. | |
