Jan 16, 2016 at 22:43 comment added Major Stackings @CreationEdge Sorry. I ran out of space writing the title.
Jan 1, 2016 at 17:44 comment added iAdjunct Voyager strayed a lot from the canon of Star Trek. For example: "speed of light, no left or right" was uttered by Paris regarding turning while at Warp; however, every other series has turned at warp.

Added more verbiage
Dec 31, 2015 at 5:03 comment added user31178 I think you could just clarify your "No" sentence saying "No, they don't have to materialize in the transporter room." I just think it's unclear. i also think the title of the question and the body question are slightly different, which adds to the confusion. (The title question mentions nothing of materializing, but beaming only.)
Dec 31, 2015 at 4:56 comment added Athena Widget Dunno how clearer the OP could be 'A must be routed through point B'. Well maybe OP could clear it up.
Dec 31, 2015 at 4:46 comment added Hypnosifl If transfer through the pattern buffer was only necessary to compensate for relative motion, is it possible that step could have been skipped when transporting between two locations at rest relative to one another?
Dec 31, 2015 at 4:30 comment added user31178 The procedure essentially involves beaming the person twice -- first, to the Transporter, then to the destination. It doesn't say that they have to materialize in the Transporter room, but the beam does have to go through there.
Dec 31, 2015 at 4:23 comment added Athena Widget What are you talking about? The transporter is located on the ship etc. The beam is just a stream of data.

Made clearer
Dec 31, 2015 at 4:21 comment added user31178 I don't understand what you mean. It's saying the transporter has to be part of the trip, even if you're going from a source and destination that aren't the transporter room.
Dec 31, 2015 at 4:20 comment added Athena Widget Read it again. 'First to the transporter then to the destination '.
Dec 31, 2015 at 3:35 comment added user31178 "No" what? The "Direct beaming" part of your indicates that the transporter does have to be part of the trip, and the person gets beamed twice.
