The doctrine that the Master will kill the apprentice may serve as a deterrent to prevent the apprentice from repeatedly challenging the Master before he's ready. If the apprentice challenges the Master, he'd better be ready. It would also ensure the fight is no-holds-barred since both know it's a duel to the death. | |
