Jul 18, 2016 at 23:10 | comment | added | Jules | Enterprise is explicitly set in an altered time line. Any similarity to the original time line of TOS/TNG/DS9/VOY is entirely coincidental.

Apr 5, 2016 at 20:58 | comment | added | Valorum | Although you're not wrong, this still seems like a great deal of unsupported guesswork.
Apr 5, 2016 at 20:55 | comment | added | VBartilucci | The Borg crashed in the arctic circle were likely either lost, or a long-range exploration team. They transmit coordinates to Earth that won't arrive in the Delta Quadrant until the 24th century. So the timeline in TNG's era could be that the Enterprise appeared there before the coordinates arrived, but once they reached their target, the correct assumption was made that it was the race they just met. No in-continuity explanation why the 1701-D didn't know of that earlier appearance tho - lost in the mists of time, perhaps?
Apr 5, 2016 at 20:31 | comment | added | Valorum | Ah, but in that case, how do you explain the arrival of the Borg in Enterprise. Catch 22
Apr 5, 2016 at 20:17 | comment | added | VBartilucci | I think you misread my comment - I was making the case that it was NOT the Borg, but an unnamed machine-based race.
Apr 5, 2016 at 20:15 | comment | added | Valorum | That may well be the case, but it's hardly evidence that the Borg had any involvement. Even if you (for some reason) insist on a machine/organic hybrid species being involved, there are others to choose from, not just the Borg.
Apr 5, 2016 at 20:10 | comment | added | VBartilucci | But clearly the point of origin and eventual desired destination were intact, or they'd have had no way to sent him (it...I meant it.) back. As many people noted at the time of the film, there's quite a similarity between the stories of VGer and Nomad, though Nomad's data banks were far more damaged.
Apr 5, 2016 at 20:01 | comment | added | Valorum | V'ger's memory banks were heavily damaged.
