May 12, 2016 at 20:28 | comment | added | Becca | @b_jonas Thank you that was quite interesting, however I think you misunderstood my comment, my comment was about professor march banks age (saying she was born 1879 or earlier).
May 12, 2016 at 14:17 | comment | added | Himarm | @b_jonas albus canceled his trip, dvk wrongly stated his schooling was interrupted.
May 12, 2016 at 14:15 | comment | added | b_jonas | @HimArm: DVK says in scifi.stackexchange.com/a/57236/4918 that "Albus had to interrupt his studies and go take care of her because he insisted Aberforth needed to finish school". I don't know how much time that took though.
May 12, 2016 at 14:15 | comment | added | Himarm | actually im 100% sure, "‘He changed, Harry, he changed! It’s as simple as that! Maybe he did believe these things when he was seventeen, but the whole of the rest of his life was devoted to fighting the Dark Arts!" this was the summer after his graduation
May 12, 2016 at 14:14 | comment | added | Himarm | @b_jonas im about 99.9% sure he went to school ontime, and graduated on time.
May 12, 2016 at 14:13 | comment | added | b_jonas | @Becca: About Dumbledore's age, see scifi.stackexchange.com/q/11813/4918 . Basically, it was wrongly stated that he lived for more than 150 years, but later Rowling has corrected this, so Dumbledore was definitely born in 1881.
May 12, 2016 at 14:13 | comment | added | b_jonas | @HimArm: On the other hand, do we know for sure that Dumbledore took the OWL exam when he was only 17 years old? I thought he might have been a bit late with schooling because of some family trouble.
May 12, 2016 at 12:31 | comment | added | Himarm | @Becca i agree it makes her appear to have at least have more then 1 newts testing before dumbledore, however, since we dont know for sure i left it at just at least 1 year older. she most likely is some 10-20 years older then Dumbledore.
May 12, 2016 at 6:55 | comment | added | Becca | According to Harry Potter Wikia, she was born no later than the 1870s, I.e. 1879 or earlier. However I'm not entirely sure how accurate Harry Potter wikia is. It would , in my opinion, make sense for her to be more than one year older than Dumbledore as she says "he did N.E.W.T.s… Did things with a wand I'd never seen before.", giving the impression she had already been doing the job a few years, otherwise you would expect her to see new things all the time anyway. I hope that made sense.

May 11, 2016 at 6:03 | comment | added | Dawny33 | (+1) Nice analysis. But, why did you assume just +1 year? Don't they need to be atleast 25+(<-- lower bound) in order to be eligible for invigilating in the OWL's?
