I'm trying to find a story that I read around 1970. It was about a man who went to borrow money from a community of people, deemed undesirable or unusual at least. These people saved everything; they fit his hair for him and saved the trimmings, etc It was contained in an "best science fiction" anthology From the late 60"s or early 70's. The story was called something like "the amazing people of ----- street"
