We know the mystery is important: so much time has been devoted to the fact Jon is a bastard, who longs to be a "real" Stark. We also have no direct link between Jon and Daenerys, but if the story wrapped with connecting those two characters it would feel strange. This fits and ties together the separate struggles they're fighting. Any other connection is apt to feel arbitrary. | |
