Apr 23, 2018 at 16:18 comment added buck1112 Although Gandalf was less than a Maiar, Aragorn confirms that Gandalf 'will not go astray,' in his experience, although that's not to say that it never happens, but rather an affirmation of Gandalf's overall nature or tendancies. Apr 20, 2018 at 21:40 comment added Edlothiad Gandalf was known to be forgetful, he was not of the majesty of the Maiar, and was stuck to the flaws of men (I.e. forgetfulness). The channel they find is certainly intended to be the stream, however since the stream has been blocked, one is meant to understand it as having dried up.
