Nov 6, 2018 at 19:01 comment added Yasskier 4. Odin has a plan, but it is VERY arguable did he plan the arrest - police got a tip on a FAX (which was turned off) that gave precise coordinates (GPS location, car mileage etc) of Wednesday position (episode 5). Controlling technology is probably not Odin's thing. 5. Odin has plans for the Shadow, but not the one you think.
Nov 6, 2018 at 18:50 comment added Yasskier There are few errors in your thoughts: 1.Odin is VERY weak, he is exhausted after healing Shadow. The only time he has some power is after killing (sacrificing) Vulcan, which he uses to kill Media henchman. Even at the height of his power he is not all knowing - just wise and scheming.2. Bilquis IS homeless - its clearly seen in the beginning of episode 8 - she pushes a trolley as homeless and she sleeps on a street, until Technical Boy gives her cell phone and shows her Tinder. All she can do is feed herself on sacrifices. 3. Mr World is a god of globalisation, not weather.
Nov 6, 2018 at 15:07 comment added Randy Zeitman The New Gods did not organize the arrest - they were manipulated into doing it (or do you think Odin thought they had no knowledge of his actions nor the thought to attempt to have humans contain him ... this can be a test by Odin to gauge their particular emotional buttons as well as testing Shadow's potential power (or is it not clear, they only referred to it twice in the show, that Shadow is to become the God of America.)
Nov 6, 2018 at 15:03 comment added Randy Zeitman Bilquis sure isn't homeless and powerless on the show (I'm only referring to the show.) Odin kills Media's henchmen ... she is clearly surprised... Mr. World doesn't control the weather, Odin had a 100% understanding of the power of the new gods, it's the very premise of the story. I've never read the book but of course everything - EVERYTHING - is part of Odin's plot; it can't be otherwise, he's the All-Father.
Nov 6, 2018 at 5:59 comment added Yasskier "he already knows their power" - there are gods and GODS. Bilquis is homeless and powerless, Technical Boy rides a limo. New gods wanted to show Odin how much power they have in comparison to him and the Old Gods. Also, this is all part of the Big Wednesday plan (HUGE plot twist from the book)
Nov 6, 2018 at 5:56 comment added Yasskier Like I've said: New Gods organised the arrest to show their power. One of the Zorya sister says that she grown up surrounded by servants, now she lives poor and she has to cook herself - no power, no money. Bilquis is homeless (in book - a poor, cheap streetwalker) - again, no power, no money. And Odin is never depicted as wealthy - quite contrary, like I've said he is a "poor wanderer" (at least in guise). Gods need power to exist, spending it on money would give them a bit of luxury but would hasten their demise. Also Wednesday never said that he is poor- he just doesn't show it.
Nov 6, 2018 at 5:50 comment added Randy Zeitman "The New Gods wanted to show Wednesday their power" ?... he already knows their power - they're gods.... he came into human form to stop them. And it's also absurd that he would join their forces ... the missle to North Korea was hysterically ridiculous ... it's Odin, not Dennis Rodman.
Nov 6, 2018 at 5:48 comment added Randy Zeitman re: Czernobog (Does worship give them money? Same situation as the others ... Sweeney has endless gold so what's the issue providing your peers with money to get by.) "Using it to pull money out of the hat would be a waste." (Why.) Wednesday and pretend he is poor ... but it's impossible he would be as he's a god and as such can manipulate humans, just as he did with Shadow and Laura. Odin was never depicted as poor ... correct?
Nov 6, 2018 at 5:48 comment added Randy Zeitman How did the new gods learn of his arrest? Since he can't instantly transport himself, as he's in human form, and Mr. World acknowledges that, he's obviously easy to track so it doesn't matter where he sleeps. He doesn't have to go around converting gold coins. You melt a few thousand and sell them to any pawn shop. (How does he pay Shadow?)
