Dec 2, 2018 at 0:04 comment added user106082 @valorum maybe, but given how many revisions a script goes through, and given that this was probably revised several times and then typed up by different people over several years, it is just as likely it was as intended as the alternate spelling.

Nov 30, 2018 at 18:01 comment added Valorum @jdv - All signs point to it simply being a typo (since it was spelled differently in the script and in the TV show episode "Carousel"), but there's always the possibility that it was intentional for some reason.
Nov 30, 2018 at 17:47 comment added user106082 "Carrousel" is an acceptable variant of "carousel" (well, according to at least one American Heritage edition, which is probably just fuel to the fire). The former is basically the French spelling, so one presumes that it was borrowed from that form at some point before being simplified. But this would be a question for another SE.

Nov 30, 2018 at 7:40 comment added Valorum @user14111 - Mildly interesting story actually. There's a typo on the opening text of the film (or at least, the word is spelled the non-Standard French way) and there's been a running edit war on Wikipedia over it; youtube.com/watch?v=IQpIAx2Gzik
