Dec 6, 2019 at 17:01 comment added NKCampbell also - instead of saying the Filoni just calously rejected Traviss' ideas, it's also possible that there were contractual obligations (or the avoidance of said obligations) that prevented lifting ideas from an author for use in another project. For example, this is the reason why Nick Locarno was not the character used in Star Trek Voyager and he was renamed / re-designed into Tom Paris. They originally wanted to use the same actor / character but would have needed to pay the original writer to do so.
