In AliensAliens, it isit's decided that the only safe way to be sure that the aliens in the colony township were destroyed was by nuking the area. 

Was the nuclear explosion powerful enough to include the original space shipspaceship containing the eggs? It seems that the space ship couldn't have been too close to the colony, otherwise it would have been discovered much earlier than it actually was (and even then, only with the coordinates transmitted by, presumably, Burke).
