Sep 14, 2019 at 10:36 comment added Tetsujin contd… This is covered briefly in the 'Writing' section at Wikipedia-Babylon 5 [I hadn't realised the TV station went out of business, I came to the story late]
Sep 14, 2019 at 10:25 comment added Tetsujin Yes! Please do watch all of Bablylon 5, but note: Straczynski initially wrote & pitched the show as a 5-season plot. That's how it started, but after season 3 it was canned with season 4 becoming the final season. He therefore had to rush to the end of his plot one season early… then it got a reprieve, 11th hour, so season 5 has an oddly anti-climatic 'what the heck do we do now?' feel to it.
Sep 13, 2019 at 20:31 comment added Bill K @Harper worth mentioning that Babylon-5 started the pattern that nearly every current TV show has come to use, the idea of telling a single coherent highly scripted story in a series of episodes (Before B5 nearly all fictional TV shows were designed such that they could be shown in any order and you couldn't really tell which came first).
Sep 12, 2019 at 18:11 comment added Harper - Reinstate Monica @someoneuseless If you just caught that one movie on TV randomly, that's tragic. You might want to watch the whole Babylon-5 series, then. Like a lot of shows (ST:TNG, Buffy) the first season is rocky, but then, lookout. It was one of the defining moments in the (new) "Golden Age of Television", when TV started to get good.
