Well i believe his power is defined as being able to create magnetic fields... But both in the movies and comics there are moments when he is able to manipulate questionable metals as far as magnetic or not. So i don't really know, maybe he has the power to magnetise non-magnetic metals so that he can manipulate them with the magnetic fields.
