Jul 8, 2021 at 13:08 comment added Darrel Hoffman Ah, that answers my other question - Donald Blake is a medical doctor, as opposed to a research scientist of some sort (which would've been my first guess since that's what Jane is). Even weirder to cast Thor that way - like how does he not even remember who he is, and yet suddenly he's qualified to perform medicine? On humans, no less, given that he isn't one. I think the MCU made the right decision on this one.
Jul 7, 2021 at 23:37 comment added LogicDictates @Acccumulation - About 37 minutes into the runtime, Thor is walking around topless, and is about to put on a T-shirt when he notices it has a sticker on it with the name "Hello my name is Donald Blake M.D." He asks "What is this?" and Jane responds "Oh. My ex. Good with patients and bad with relationships. They're the only clothes I had that would fit you." So, apparently, Don Blake does exist in the MCU, albeit he never appeared on-screen.
Jul 7, 2021 at 23:04 comment added Acccumulation "Whereas in the movie, Don Blake was just an ex-boyfriend of Jane Foster, and Thor remained in his own body" Huh? Donald Blake is an alias that Selvig gives for Thor.
Jul 7, 2021 at 17:33 comment added LogicDictates The Don Blake identity would presumably have been played by a different actor, like in the old Hulk TV movie with Bill Bixby, if they had gone that route. I suspect that's the main reason they changed it, since it would've given Hemsworth a lot less screentime, and complicated the romantic subplot with Jane.
Jul 7, 2021 at 13:52 comment added Darrel Hoffman I find it hard to imagine at least the MCU's portrayal of Thor as a Doctor of anything. Maybe that's why they changed that...
