Oct 5, 2021 at 20:45 | comment | added | Mazura | We don't get to see, but Ripely and Newt check inside it for 'bad dreams' just before taking a nap in Medlab. (1h32m, S.E.)

Oct 5, 2021 at 17:13 | comment | added | Damar | Yes, I see. I was wrong, thinking that this image was from the final escape. The swirled hair and the background light make it seem as if there was an explosion in the background and the bed's slatted frame looks like a fence to me. Regarding the orientation of the image, I did not rotate it to that misleading angle. I found it this way in a TV magazine and I remember having seen that same picture in this orientation several times in the past.
Oct 5, 2021 at 16:26 | comment | added | FreeMan | I've submitted an edit for review that rotates the image based upon the comments here. That's why, in the future, the comments won't make sense
Oct 5, 2021 at 12:22 | comment | added | AdamT | Yes, you are both absolutely right. ( SpaceWolf1701 and Baronet_Canid ) That is bed springs on the left of the picture and the facehugger is trying to get down at them. The lighting makes it look like everything is on fire (i.e. like the Queen lair escape scene) but is probably just the heater/light unit that Ripley left by the bed.
Oct 5, 2021 at 12:16 | comment | added | SpaceWolf1701 | comicvine1.cbsistatic.com/uploads/original/5/55780/… Here's the correct orientation of the photo. You can see it's the floor under the bed a lot clearer here. And a on-set photo of filming the scene: i.guim.co.uk/img/media/b11722f122a57b066df06e0326bec61e0e07c834/… Casey's plainly visible in Carrie Henn's (Newt's) hand) in the latter.
Oct 5, 2021 at 12:10 | comment | added | SpaceWolf1701 | @Baronet_Canid Correct. The picture should be turned 90 degrees and they're under the bed in the medbay. You can see the facehugger pinned to the wall in the background, too You can also see the zipper of Ripley's leather jacket (which she was wearing in Medical but not in the Queen's nest) and the upper half of her flightsuit in place (she ties it around her waist during the rescue with just her undershirt showing), and Newt never got Casey back after the abduction. This is just after the first facehugger comes at them in Medical at about 01:47:00-ish in the special edition, per my DVD.
Oct 5, 2021 at 11:54 | comment | added | Baronet_Canid | I think the orientation of this picture is deceptive. Isn't it actually rotated 90 degrees, and they are actually lying on their left sides? The wall on the left of them is actually the bottom of the bed newt was the sleeping under in medbay.
Oct 5, 2021 at 11:42 | comment | added | AdamT | @SpaceWolf1701 - I recall that Newt drops Casey into the water and Ripley/Hicks find it afterwards before Ripley heads to the Queen's lair. I think (but not sure) that Newt is re-united with it so it could still be in the later escape scene. Also, in the Medbay the xenos are thrown across the room and shot so I don't think there could be an image like this where you can see one chasing in the background from then?
Oct 5, 2021 at 11:15 | comment | added | SpaceWolf1701 | It's definitely Casey: avp.fandom.com/wiki/Casey . The OP was mistaken in thinking the still photo was when Ripley rescues Newt from the Xeno Queen. It's from earlier in the film before Newt gets abducted, when the two facehuggers the colonists had been studying got loose in the medbay. Newt still had Casey with her at the time and never stopped holding tight to the doll until she gets abducted by the xenos and loses it.
