Mar 4 at 20:20 comment added Tim Koeppen This sounds close. Female protagonist, mind sharing, weird but non graphic sex. But in the one I was thinking of the hosting was consensual. I just remembered a detail, the protagonist was afraid of sex because her species changes gender after sex and she didn't want to change. Also this story was in an anthology so this may have been from a book cut down for the anthology.

Feb 13 at 4:57 comment added Miral All of the books in the series have "hosting" as a concept, which is the borrowing of a host body by an alien mind; in earlier books this required the host to be brain-dead, but that was later relaxed to requiring a willing/voluntary host. This particular book extends this practice to an involuntary one as well.
