Oct 12, 2015 at 13:46 comment added Lightness Races in Orbit "that brings up the question of why they couldn't repair/replace his heart" Well, they did. He had an artificial heart precisely because they'd replaced his original one...

Mar 2, 2012 at 5:41 comment added Izkata @OghmaOsiris Biological replication technology is still in its infancy, and only worked with Worf because of his Klingon physiology. The Federation simply doesn't have the technology to give Picard a replicated heart.
Oct 9, 2011 at 2:23 comment added erdiede Even after being de-Borged he could still "hear" the collective. For example, he was seen "listening" to them before giving very specific targeting information. I think in First Contact, but I could be wrong about that.

Sep 21, 2011 at 9:23 comment added Neil I can only guess it is because his assimilation was 'light' by comparison to some, since he was supposed to be Borg in a symbolic sense, and not so much a typical drone so as such, he lacked many of the same implants that seven of nine would have. Therefore, they didn't replace his heart and they didn't do the whole works on him.
Sep 20, 2011 at 17:03 comment added OghmaOsiris @TangoOversway The heart was just a mention on the inconsistancy with the technology. If they had the tech to remove all the implant, why didn't they have the tech to replace his heart with a replicated heart? That's all I was saying. I know his heart implant had nothing to do with him being assimilated.
Sep 20, 2011 at 17:02 comment added OghmaOsiris @KyleCronin since we can't get a x-ray of Picard, we can only go off what he says in the show.
Sep 20, 2011 at 16:22 comment added Kyle Cronin It's also possible that there were other Borg implants that could not be removed, but that couldn't be seen externally.
Sep 20, 2011 at 15:40 comment added Tango Picard's heart was a different situation. He was given what they had to keep him alive and he was reluctant, out of pride, to admit he had a problem, and to get the replacement fixed.

Sep 20, 2011 at 14:59 comment added gnovice Well, Picard did get an upgrade on his artificial ticker in the episode "Samaritan Snare".
Sep 20, 2011 at 14:27 comment added Reinstate Monica - Goodbye SE Great point about his artificial heart. And why didn't the Borg upgrade it?!
