I'm referring to all the information needed to convince Neo for the first 30-odd years of his life that he inhabits the real world. Sight, sound, smell, touch, attacks of indigestion, you name it. Of course, as Mouser observed, the humans in the Matrix don't really know what chicken tastes like, which gives the machines some room for imperfection.
Aug 3, 2014 at 2:46 comment added user13267 we can't say it should be possible just because it's 2099. Some inherent limitations might be discovered later which are't apparent right now
Aug 3, 2014 at 2:40 comment added trysis @user13267 - That could very well be why. In 1999, that was believable. In 2014, not so much. Much less 2099 or whenever The Matrix took place.
Aug 2, 2014 at 6:09 comment added Stark07 Yes. Ofcourse. Still what Royal Canadian Bandit is trying to refer is the basic 5 senses. Or so I think.
Aug 2, 2014 at 3:04 comment added Izkata @ash_k29 Humans have a lot more than 5 senses
Aug 1, 2014 at 4:46 comment added Stark07 Learning kung fu is not a sensory process. It means learning moves, reflexes, which I am pretty sure does not count as "sensory information". Last I heard the hands & legs were not sensory organs. The "quick kung fu" itself is proof that a lot more than mere sensory information be up/downloaded.
Jul 31, 2014 at 15:15 comment added Luiz Felipe Perhaps they don't do that every time because it takes too much space to store the backup and much energy restore it.
Jul 31, 2014 at 13:50 comment added vsz Right about the Matrix working via an interface, and not scanning and uploading the whole brain. By the way, if the technology to back up minds existed, the Machines would use it as the mechanism of resetting the Matrix (they could loop the same year or month or whatever in everyone's brain) and they wouldn't need that complicated and error-prone scheme about the prophecy and the One to reset the Matrix when too many people start getting aware of its existence.
Jul 31, 2014 at 10:53 comment added user13267 May be the memory requirement for a full brain backup is too high?
