The second may be true, but only matters if your idea to jump out and jump back when the shield is down could have worked, and I put forth reasons why it could not. | |

However, I am unconvinced that the hyperspace difficulties are so significant to explain the Rebels' behavior. For one, hyperspace jumps must be fairly accurate in that the Rebels had to take evasive action just to avoid the shield when they realized it was still up moments after they arrived. Second, casualties incurred while calculating a retreat jump and aligning capital ships could not have been any worse than losing entire capital ships to the Death Star every few minutes. | |
