As the body was reduced, so was that connection. However, with the prequels that changed.

Jan 16, 2015 at 14:31 comment added phantom42 The previous consensus was that losing limbs did not diminish Vader's strength in the Force, it stands to reason that if losing limbs didn't do it, losing some more of his natural body likely wouldn't either.
