Oct 15, 2015 at 5:52 | comment | added | JMFB | @WolfieInu as well as anti-semitism, inconsistent application of the rules, abuse of power, etc. I'm in the top 2% and was a junky here for awhile even rep-maxing...our chat adds value but it'd be more appropriate for meta. I'm gonna hit mos eisley now to chat. If you click on the Stackexchange icon in the upper left corner of your screen, then click on chat, you can select mos, and see what people are chatting about, but it's kinda late now, at least in the us.
Oct 15, 2015 at 5:46 | comment | added | Wolfie Inu | @JMFB Sure, no problem. Sorry about your negative experience. I guess it's partly a matter of tone and purpose - this is a SE site after all, not a forum, and even this chat of ours is contrary to the purpose of the site. If it doesn't add value, it shouldn't be in an answer or comment. I can't speak to the other instances of content theft though, that does kind of suck.
Oct 15, 2015 at 5:41 | comment | added | JMFB | -cont'd- @WolfieInu So I made a conscious decision to not post answers anymore. I also have scaled back questions. I used to spend hours in chat as well, and still really like a lot of people in chat, but scaled that back as well. IT got better for awhile, but then when I had mods and high rep users basically steal my answers, I decided it wasn't worth the aggravation. Anyway, have fun with the site, hope your experience will be better then mine, and thanks for the upvotes! I really appreciate it. <check out the chat, mos eisley, it's pretty fun, good ppl in there>
Oct 15, 2015 at 5:39 | comment | added | JMFB | @WolfieInu Thx and welcome to the site. I have scaled back my participation greatly due to these sorts of issues. If you go through a lot of my questions and answers you'll see more of the same. Unless my answer is stellar I've always gotten downvoted. There are many times I had the superior answer, or others came after me and simply copied my answer, and got awarded a correct answer or got more upvotes.
Oct 15, 2015 at 5:07 | comment | added | Wolfie Inu | That last paragraph should be a comment, but the rest is fair IMO. I disagree with downvoting in this instance.
May 7, 2015 at 11:15 | comment | added | Valorum | Passing reference isn't unacceptable (if it was, i'd have closed it) but it is, at best a little unusual, bordering on crass. The best way to reply is to either comment or simply to post a better (and contrasting) answer rather than denigrating the other answers.
May 7, 2015 at 7:35 | comment | added | JMFB | Am I not allowed to contrast my answer to others? It seems like there's a lot of answers that have nothing to do with the questions. Sometimes they are awarded a correct answer. Sometimes we frame or answer a question with a question. Is my writing style in question? Not every question is a "Is the ocean blue or orange?" This one however was pretty straight forward. The answer is yes. If anything somebody should have corrected the word "persist" in the question as it's incorrectly used. I answered the question, gave evidence in Universe, and made a comment.
May 7, 2015 at 7:28 | comment | added | Valorum | The last two paragraphs, certainly. The first two possibly.
May 7, 2015 at 7:20 | comment | added | JMFB | Large chunks? @Richard
Apr 6, 2015 at 13:45 | comment | added | Valorum | Large chunks of this answer appear to be an attempt to comment on previous answers.
