Apr 29, 2015 at 13:49 comment added Cronax To add to the answer, I strongly get the impression that the calls to between companions and their friends/family are on a 'time passed' basis. Say companion A leaves with the Doctor on day 1, adventures with him for 7 days and then calls home, she will be connected to the person she is calling in her original timeline, at the point where exactly as much time has passed in said timeline as she has experienced together with the Doctor.

Apr 7, 2015 at 5:26 comment added gatherer818 I'm incredibly amazed you got through the entire Companion section without referencing San Dimas Time. Please note that link may consume your life, and I don't advise clicking it despite it being technically Safe For Work.
Apr 7, 2015 at 1:28 comment added KutuluMike nah, The Doctor gave them universal roaming, flat rate!
Apr 7, 2015 at 0:42 comment added Ralph J Monthly roaming charge?? You must be kidding -- the Tardis has all of eternity to spread out the minutes, so I doubt if she EVER goes over her monthly allotment in a single month! :->
Apr 7, 2015 at 0:31 comment added Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I'm sure they get charged one heck of a monthly roaming charge :P
Apr 7, 2015 at 0:27 comment added tilley31 No problem. I do agree this is a better answer.
Apr 7, 2015 at 0:22 comment added Rand al'Thor Nice answer, well fleshed out with examples. I'll wait a day or two to see if anything better comes along, then probably accept this - sorry @tilley31 :-)
