Removed the changelings sent out.
Nov 15, 2015 at 23:37 comment added Hypnosifl Specifically, in "To the Death" Weyoun says "The Dominion has endured for two thousand years, and will continue to endure long after the Federation has crumbled into dust", and in "What You Leave Behind" a founder says "for two millennia the Jem'Hadar have been the Dominion's first line of defence".
Nov 15, 2015 at 23:35 comment added Hypnosifl You might want to mention which episodes established the ages of the Borg and Dominion--the Borg being a minor power 900 years ago was from the Voyager episode "Dragon's Teeth", and the claim of the Dominion having been founded 10,000 years ago was from the Deep Space Nine episode "The Dogs of War", but as mentioned in the Dominion history article, other episodes seem to contradict that figure, with DS9 episodes "To the Death" and "What You Leave Behind" suggesting it was founded less about 2000 years ago.

Noted the group that Odo was part of.
May 29, 2015 at 20:09 comment added Nate Watson I came up with another explanation, and amended the list.

Another reason
May 29, 2015 at 10:17 comment added Paul D. Waite @NateWilson: well, maybe. We don’t learn that much about how the Dominion works. They have a very powerful army, the Jem’Hadar. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re more widespread, or more likely to learn about things, than the Federation. I do take your overall point that it would be odd if the Dominion had no awareness of the Borg.
May 29, 2015 at 3:18 comment added Nate Watson On the other hand, the Dominion is comparably powerful to the Federation, Klingons, Romulans, and other powers combined. The Borg are almost definitely aware of them, because if the Borg have encountered a minor power, such as the Ferengi, they have almost definitely encountered either the Dominion, or someone who has encountered the Dominion.
May 28, 2015 at 16:07 comment added Paul D. Waite sure — I didn’t mean that the Borg encountered those two specific Ferengi, just that the Borg can encounter species without reaching their homeworlds.
May 28, 2015 at 4:16 comment added Nate Watson Again, the answer is "probably yes". And it's a pretty safe bet that the Borg didn't encounter those Ferengi, based on the fact that they're alive. And that's only a second reason. My main reason for choosing "probably yes" is the existence of a large Borg facility near Dominion Territory.
May 26, 2015 at 22:08 comment added Paul D. Waite well that assumes you need to go all the way to Ferenginar to encounter the Ferengi. Plus we know of two Ferengi who ended up in the Delta quadrant.
May 26, 2015 at 16:36 comment added Nate Watson The Alpha and Delta quadrants are opposite quadrants. The Ferengi live on the Alpha and Beta quadrants' border, which means for the Borg to reach Ferenginar, they have to go almost all the way through the Beta and a chunk of the Delta quadrant. However, the Dominion is close to the wormhole, which is implied to be roughly in the center of the Gamma quadrant. So basically, in order to encounter the Ferengi, someone from either side has to travel the whole Beta and chunk of the Delta quadrant. For the Borg and Dominion, only half of the Delta and Gamma quadrants. It would be a shorter route.
May 25, 2015 at 18:07 comment added Paul D. Waite I take your point about the Borg facility in the Gamma Quadrant (I’m not familiar with Voyager). I’m not so sure the Ferengi argument stacks up. Even if the Borg did know of them by reaching Ferengi space (rather than encountering Ferengi who made it to the Delta quadrant), that doesn’t necessarily mean they also reached Dominion space. Space is big. It’s really easy to miss stuff. Plus both the Beta and Gamma quadrants border the Delta quadrants (that’s the nature of dividing things into quarters).
