Sep 1, 2015 at 2:49 comment added Ras Morthil Lucas never referred to the dark side as a cancer, though it is often alleged that he did. He portrayed the dark side as a necessary part of the Force. Also, the Force was never purely mystical. It was called an "energy field" in Episode IV. It always had a "scientific" component and high Force potential was said in ROTJ(1983) to be genetically inherited in the Skywalker bloodline. Midichlorians are simply the reason for this.

May 17, 2013 at 20:46 comment added Michael Brown Palpatine turns to Annakin and says "I am your father" thus the circle is complete.
May 17, 2013 at 18:08 comment added Michael Brown I think Lucas bit off more than he could chew by trying to "explain" the force. It was better off being mystical than giving some hokey "scientific" explanation.

Jan 25, 2012 at 19:52 comment added Tango @MasonWheeler: Kind of. But the way I see it, a Lucasism is essentially like a Rube Goldberg device. Kind of close, but not quite.
Jan 25, 2012 at 19:48 comment added Mason Wheeler @TangoOversway: I believe that's what TVTropes calls a Voodoo Shark.
Jan 25, 2012 at 19:03 comment added DavRob60 @TangoOversway yup, except it had to "sounds cool" first, which is not the case here.
Jan 25, 2012 at 18:49 comment added Tango @DavRob60: No, I know you aren't. It's what I call a "Lucasism" (I hope that term catches on.) It's when someone (originally Lucas) comes up with an idea that sounds cool and gets used, but creates so much of an inconsistency it takes more effort to explain than it's worth.
Jan 25, 2012 at 18:34 comment added DavRob60 @TangoOversway Hey, I'm not the one how wrote or approve those books! It seam like Jedi and Sith manipulate the force through the midichlorians and with the Dark Side, they are forced to act against life, so against theirs will. The light side is seen like a symbiotic relation and the Dark Side is seen as corruption, or compared to cancer. The sides effect on a dark Jedi are possibly an defensive response from them. Sith don't listen to the force, they tell it what to do.
Jan 25, 2012 at 18:17 comment added Tango But, true SW fashion, that doesn't explain why the midichlorians continue to work with Plagueis or Sidious to conduct the Force through them if they're so disturbed by them.
Jan 25, 2012 at 18:00 comment added DavRob60 @DVK Midichlorians though he will do the job. It's not theirs fault if Anakin didn't do it properly.

Jan 25, 2012 at 17:47 comment added DavRob60 merging it would not do the job?
Jan 25, 2012 at 17:46 comment added user1027 Also, you should post this as an answer to that duplicate question. Now that the book's out, there's a canon answer.
Jan 25, 2012 at 17:22 comment added user1027 That is so crazy, I'm hoping you made it up.
