How many credits (or standardized form of currency in Star Wars) would it cost to build a Death Star?

@RogueJedi The price of the Death Star was mentioned in the linked question, but none of the three sub-questions ask about it and the answer doesn't even mention the Death Star. I don't think this is a dupe. – Null Jan 12 '16 at 19:07
  • I searched a similar question before ask and I couldnt find anything related, I think althoug is answered in the linked question is not easy to find for somebody that have the same doub. – JeanPaul Jan 12 '16 at 19:12
  • @RogueJedi this certainly isn't a dupe of that question. What makes you think it might be? I don't see the Death Star mentioned in the accepted answer. – Daft Jan 13 '16 at 9:54

Wookieepedia cites Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know (a canon reference book published in 2015) in stating that the first and second Death Stars cost over 1,000,000,000,000 (1 trillion) galactic credits each.

@JeanPaul Vader would find your lack of faith...disturbing. – BrianH Jan 12 '16 at 21:28
  • @JeanPaul - the new canon comic "Vader" has Palpatine addressing this issue w/ Vader – NKCampbell Jan 12 '16 at 22:59

In an Empire ruling over billions -- if not trillions -- of people, that's chump change! – Slacklord the Terrible Jan 13 '16 at 0:27

If 1 galactic credit === 1 American dollar:

According to forbes at least.

I genuinely don't think I'll ever be able to afford one.

  • Yes quadrillions sounds more likely. Advanced aircraft cost in the billions, advanced aircraft carriers can cost up to a trillion. So the Forbes estimate of nearly 1 quintillion really sounds more to scale in my estimation. – Escoce Jan 12 '16 at 18:18
