Think it was an early British Sci Fi serial (or perhaps a one off) from the late 1960's (or more probably) early-mid 1960's, may have been in black and white.

What I remember most is at the end where a group of scientists (at least one man and one woman) trying to leave and block up a cave that seemed to be either a door way to the past (or to a hidden world).

The reason for this was a prehistoric monster (something along the lines of a Tyrannosaurus Rex?) was trying to escape.

Because it was live action, the monster's roar was worse than its bite.

I've checked both "Out of This World" and "Out of the Unknown" but it doesn't appear to be from either of these series. May have been an "Armchair Theatre" production?

  • Thanks, but no. I think it was significantly before that. Have amended my question to suggest it may have been an Armchair Theatre production since they did explore some sci fi concepts. However, if so then I don't think it will be found since (an admittedly restricted search suggested) there's an awful lot from the earlier series that is lost. – user66716 Aug 18 '16 at 14:25
  • I recall a Dr Who Episode from 1973 ('Carnival of Monsters', Season 10, Story 66), although it was in colour. The Dr (John Pertwee) was trapped in a Miniscope and they had to escape the dreaded Drashigs (similar to Tyrannosaurus Rex). One scene has the Dr closing a door through which the Drashigs could be seen advancing! – Seldon2k Jan 7 '17 at 4:02
  • Thanks, but definitely not Carnival of Monsters. – user66716 Jan 8 '17 at 14:32
