Mr. Freeze (Dr. Victor Fries) was actually a doctor. I believe he went to medical school but I could be wrong on that. Is there any information on which school he attended or alternatively which school(s) he taught at?

He's not a medical doctor, he has a doctorate in cryogenics; i.sstatic.net/PSnYD.jpg

  • Also worth noting that there are multiple versions of the Mr Freeze backstory. I'm not sure that any of them specify his alma mater, but there are certainly significant conflicts between some of them. You migth want to clarify which version you mean.

  • Good point. I know at least in one he was a medical doctor. Honestly I'm just interested if in any of the versions either his alma mater or where he taught (if applicable) was specified. It's honestly just for a super lame joke but I couldn't find this information specified anywhere.

@Dason - I've looked at his backstories across a range of comics and media. In the modern era (after he was retconned into a real doctor) it's repeatedly mentioned that he has a doctorate but I've not seen any confirmation where he got it.

@PaulD.Waite - It would also explain why the ice cream maker is always broken if he needs to steal the freon.

He did attend college (although I am unsure if it was really medical school) because that is where he met his wife, Nora. It is not stated what college or what classes he attended, but we can extrapolate that is was probably Gotham City University, since he was in Gotham City at the time.

When he entered college, he met a girl who fell in love with and soon married, Nora Fries. https://batman.neoseeker.com/wiki/Mr_Freeze

Hi, welcome to SF&F. It's always tricky to rely on wikipedia as a primary source. Your answer would be better if you tracked down the primary source for that statement and cited it directly.

  • We can certainly guess that he's likely to have gone to Gotham U... Or one of the other universities in Gotham City, since we know of at least four others.

  • @Valorum Which universities are these? In my research, I could only find GCU mentioned. Could you provide sources?

  • @Kaley - Gotham State gets a regular mention in earlier serials, although it seems to have been retconned. Many Gothamites (including Dick Grayson) go to nearby Hudson University. Blue Beetle went to Gotham Law School, which may or may not be a dept of Gotham U

  • @Kaley - Possibly worthy of its own question, now that you mention it.
