  • Shaneen Every one has 2 parents, 4 grand parents, 8 great grandparents, etc. So Aragorn would have countless millions and billions of ancestors going back to the first men in Middle-Earth. Aragorn's paternal ancestors are listed in Appendix A Annals of the Kings and Rulers in The Return of the King. Aragorn's mother and her parents are named in the tale of Aragorn and Arwen in Appendix A. Continued. Jun 27 '20 at 16:31

Aragon's paternal line ancestors, chieftains of the Dunedain, Kings of Arthedain, and Kings of Arnor, are listed in Appendix A. For 3,000 years and 30 generations Every king and chieftain had a son to succeeded. So Aragon's ancestry goes to Isildur and his father Elendil the Tall, leaders of the Numenoreans who survived the Downfall and settled in Middle Earth. Appendix A also lists the kings of Numenor in the Second Age before the Downfall, and and Aragorn was descended from the earlier kings of Numenor. Continued. Jun 27 '20 at 16:37
  • Elendil the Tall was the son of Amandil, last Lord of Andunie in the west of Numenor. In on of the books in the History of Middle Earth series a list of the Lords of Adunie is given, and it seems to be the assumption that the lordship passed from father to son every time, which if correct gives the line of descent of Elendil from the first Lord Valendil, whose mother was Silmarien, sister of King Tar-Meneldur. Silmarien was the great great grandaughter of Elros Tar-Minyatur, the first King of Numenor. Continued. Jun 27 '20 at 16:47
  • Elros, first king of Numenor, was the brother of Elrond, and thus the uncle of Arwen who married Elros's distant descendant Aragorn. The ancestry of Elros and Elrond is described briefly in Appendix A of The Return of the king and in much more detail in The Silmarillion, as well as in various Tolkien websites. Jun 27 '20 at 16:53
