In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone it is revealed that Harry Potter is just one year old when his parents were murdered by Lord Voldemort. Then Albus Dumbledore left the now orphaned Harry living with his aunt and uncle. Ten years later, Dumbledore gives Rubeus Hagrid the task of locating Harry. I have always wondered why Dumbledore had to wait a whole decade to send for Harry and introduce him to the wizarding world in which Dumbledore was the magical guardian.

He didn't send Hagrid to locate Harry, he sent him to deliver a letter. Prior to this he was under near-constant surveillance by one of Dumbledore's allies, Arabella Figg. Note that Hagrid is rather surprised about Harry's total ignorance of the Wizarding World. – Valorum Jun 4 at 23:11

Is your question "Why didn't Dumbledore tell Harry about the wizarding world sooner"? If so, I think it would be a duplicate of this question. – F1Krazy Jun 4 at 23:13
