I read this book in the mid 2000's. It was a modern day sci-fi thriller.

The story opens on this conglomerate that is in power generation and tech, and is coming up with a new virtual reality headset that is supposed to be super realistic looking. Someone comes to test it out, and while he is by himself testing it out, he selects a volcano simulation, and is found burned to death.

It turns out that the burns are caused by hydrogen fluoride that's been placed in the soap dispenser (?) of the bathrooms by an angry employee of the company, either a janitor or nuclear aste disposal guy who thinks that his work in the company has caused his son to get cystic fibrosis.

I'm desperately trying to find the title of this book. I don't think it was very good, but I just need to know that it exists.
