I don’t know much about the story more than its resolution, as I read it when I was in middle school (about 7th grade, in 2016-2017) but to my knowledge a man is going on an expedition throughout space where his rocket breaks down.
He is then trapped on an alien planet which is described as lush and sustainable, and although I do not remember the exact time scale, I believe his entrapment on this unfamiliar planet is somewhere around 6 months to a year, maybe 2 years.
Eventually he spots a rescue team coming to save him and he explains that he has only been there for however much elapsed time he has recognized, and the rescue men are incredibly confused and tell him that it is 50 years (or something like that) later than he had described.
The man returns to Earth to find his wife, who was young when he left, to now be an elderly woman and his son, who he remembers as a baby is a grown man with his own family.
