The story details the adventures of a young Ninja named Naruto, growing up in a world where various Ninja clans create an uneasy balance of power. As Naruto matures, he struggles to learn the mysterious power contained within him on the path towards his goal: becoming the Hokage, or Ninja leader, of his home village, Konoha, and thereby securing the respect of his peers.

The title character Naruto Uzumaki and his teammates, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, and their enigmatic leader Kakashi Hatake embark on ninja missions, along with other teams of ninjas from their village and other villages. The series focuses on the individual growth, trials, and relationships between the characters.
