In the Star Wars universe, the Sith Order was a sect of Force-sensitives who used the dark side of the Force. In the six Star Wars films, the Sith are the primary antagonists, in opposition to the Jedi Order (Episodes I, II and III) and the Alliance to Restore the Republic (Episodes IV, V and VI).

The Sith had existed as an organisation for millennia before the events of the six Star Wars films, such as the Sith Empire — a rich and powerful empire established by Dark Jedi banished from the Galactic Republic after their defeat at the Battle of Corbos (6900 BBY). A New Sith Empire was formed around 2000 BBY, which descended into civil war before 1042 BBY.

Generally, however, references to the Sith will refer to the Order of Sith the Lords, which existed from when Darth Bane created the Rule of Two around 1000 BBY until its reorganisation after the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY and the events of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

While many Sith Lords may be found in Legends continuity, only a few named Sith Lords exist in canon:
