From the Wikipedia article: Nintendo did not initially reveal Mario's full name. In a 1989 interview it was stated not to be "Mario Mario" despite the implication of the Mario Bros. series' title. The first notable use of "Mario Mario" was in the 1993 live-action film adaptation. This was again used in two of Prima's official stategy guides, in 2000 ...

Mario's creator, Shigeru Miyamoto answered this in an interview with GameInformer a while back. To him, Mario and Luigi don't have last names, but in the film version, Mario and Luigi have the last name of "Mario". “This is an old story, but Hollywood did a film version of the Mario Bros. many years back. There was a scene in the script where they ...

He was the ruler of the Koopa... his army. "Koopa" translates from Japanese as "Turtle Tribe". Most Koopas seem to operate in a hierarchy-based grouping system. Bowser is the leader of the Koopa Troop, which has invaded Mushroom Kingdom many times and has control over most of the Koopas in the Mario series. Many of these same Koopas are soldiers in this ...

The original backstory for Super Mario Bros is laughably short. Mario heard that the Mushroom Kingdom was in danger and set out on a quest to free it. No information is given about his mode of transport to the Kingdom, nor whether he lives in the magical world normally or traveled there from the human world. OBJECT OF THE GAME/GAME DESCRIPTION One ...

According to Paper Mario he finds normal (magic) mushrooms bland and uninteresting. Presumably he only eats them in-game for their magical and restorative effects. For the record he finds volt mushrooms tart, fried mushrooms uninteresting and sweet 'shroom cake to be "Yummy", so I guess it depends on the variety of mushroom and the way it's prepared. ...

According to Super Mario History, it's a saddle that was originally a shell during development. Yoshi was originally supposed to be a type of Koopa. That saddle you see on his back was actually his shell. - Takashi Tezuka The official German Club Nintendo magazine apparently also refered to it as a saddle, but I can't confirm it. Translated from German: ...

It would seem that any origin-plot, if any, can only be derived from cross-referencing the various game. As Valorum already said, the original NES/Famicom Super Mario Bros game didn't give out many details - we just know that Mario set out to save the Mushroom Kingdom and Princess ---Toadstool--- Peach, but we don't really know were he came from. This plot ...

http://legendsoflocalization.com/super-mario-bros/manuals/ has the original game manual for Super Mario Bros. The story provided in that manual states that King Koopa is king of the Koopa, an army of magical turtles.

There seems to be two answers if I google the question. One is that yes Mario is a murder and the other is not on your nelly! View one seems to be this widely spread and well known theory which has been mentioned in a couple of articles and in the OQ - 5. Mario is an Insane Murderer and Princess Toadstool Couldn't Care Less About Her Subjects The ...

There’s an online comic Super Mario Bros 2 which continues the story. From the about page: In 1993 Lightmotive Pictures released Super Mario Bros. The Movie, a live-action adaptation of the popular video game series. The film ended with a sequel hook which went unexplored — until now. Following discussions with original writer Parker Bennett, Steven ...

Who says he eats any mushrooms, including the Magic Mushrooms? From page 8 of the SMB1 manual: Thanks to “the Koopa, a tribe of turtles famous for their black magic”... “Mushroom People were turned into mere stones”... “The only one who can undo the magic spell is Princess Toadstool”. A section of SMB1's manual shows ...

To my knowledge, there isn't any canon scene either in the old animated shows or in the games that shows a normal, wingless Koopa turning in a Paratroopa either from using an item or getting struck with a magic spell, but there are some clues that may indicate that the wings should be considered a "toggle-able" effect. Paratroopas loses their wings when ...

Per the Mario Wiki Goombario's tattle for the Boo Igor in Paper Mario states: "He probably was a merchant before he became a Boo," implying that current Boos may have once been living beings.

The instruction booklet for Super Mario Bros. mentions a Mushroom King, Princess Peach/Toadstool's father, but he hasn't been heard of in many years. In Super Mario RPG, Toadstool was assisted by the Chancellor, whose political function was about as vague as the Princess's. Paper Mario included a Toad Minister who looks and acts like the same person. These ...

Who better to ask than Super Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto? Q. Do you know who Bowser Jr's mother is? A. Points to himself Well, that can't be a canon answer... In 2012 (by way of declaring that the Koopalings had been retconned into not being Bowser's kids), Miyamoto explained: Bowser's only child is Bowser Jr., and we do not know who the mother ...

Super Mario Bros 3 portrays him as being king of the Dark Land. Source (from Wikipedia): When the brothers rescue the seventh king, the letter they receive reveals that Bowser has kidnapped Toadstool and is holding her captive in the castle of his own kingdom, Dark Land. The brothers travel through Dark Land, enter his castle, and defeat Bowser in a ...

As Valorum already pointed out in a comment, there aren't many official sources on the matter. We can only point out some inherent contradictions: First, it was mentioned that the description for the Coin trophy in the Super Smash Bros franchise is The Mushroom Kingdom is dotted with these mysterious coins. There seems to be an endless supply hidden in ...

The character doesn't have a surname, however he was named after Mario Segale who owned one of Nintendo's first warehouse/distribution centres in America. So if you had to give him a surname then maybe Segale would be an option One source is linked below, a piece published in the Seattle Times which states that he is a property owner and used to own the ...

The continuity in the Mario franchise is more than just a little screwy, however, it's generally accepted that the games do not take place in a vacuum. Mario and Peach already know each other, and are most likely already in a relationship, at the beginning of Super Mario Run. I'm pretty sure that in at least one Mario game, Bowser himself has made ...

In context of TV and Movies, only a green Yoshi has appeared in the Super Mario Bros TV Show. You can not get more common than "the only one available". The same goes for the Super Mario Bros. movie, although there is a clear difference in the appearance of the character due to the nature of the movie. That being said, the TV Show is very obviously based ...

This seems to be a case of Anthropomorphic Zig-Zag with the Princess (and her father) becoming dramatically more human-like and the Toads becoming dramatically more mushroom-like as the game series progressed. In the original depictions (in the How to Win at Super Mario Bros. gamebook, for example), the Mushroom king and Princess Toadstool are shown to be ...

We know that his mother Mama Mario exists. She was also living with Papa, but it's not clear whether he was really father of Mario and Luigi. Also, there are other bunch of Mario's parents theories in existence. But, we don't have official words on this.

Princess Daisy is something of an oddity. The first game she appears in is Super Mario Land, which was the first Mario game that did not include legendary developer Shigeru Miyamoto Unlike previous Super Mario games, Super Mario Land was not developed by Shigeru Miyamoto and Nintendo's EAD division but by Nintendo R&D1, with Gunpei Yokoi as guiding ...

This was addressed in the Season 3 premier episode Sneaky Lying Cheating Giant Ninja Koopas. King Koopa uses magic on his henchmen to make them large. The other Yoshi's first appeared in Super Mario World for the SNES. Until you reached either the special star worlds, the first time you get a red/yellow/blue Yoshi isn't until much later in the game, with the red/fire coming first, then blue/flying, then yellow/stomping. You could only use the powers of the other Yoshi's as a normal green Yoshi by eating a ...

I don't have the clips, but in the Super mario bros. 3 show, there are scenes that show magikoopas arming the goombas and koopas. I may be speculating, but since some were given armor, and others wings, it seems that the wings were just a magical tool provided to designated members of the koopatroopa army.
