I am Canadian-born with German parents from Silesia and Transylvania. I started working on my family history in my teens before a family trip to Europe to visit distant relatives. My research focus is finding "all" my relatives, especially as I seem to be one of the few interested with the research and language skills.
So, my expertise is practical, rather than through certifications: Languages: English, German, some Latin. Old handwriting, esp. German. Early to late 20th century immigration to USA & Canada. European history & geography, esp in my ancestral regions.
My personal website has transcriptions and indexes of my previous work with family documents, FHL microfilms, etc. I also done a lot of research following the American descendants of Transylvanian Saxon relatives and associated families, using on-line resources. Recent projects have focused on photography in local cemeteries.
