Sep 19, 2018 at 17:41 | comment | added | RDFozz | @hrh - And, of course, if at some point you come to believe the 1980s TZ episode is the correct answer, please do accept it!
Sep 19, 2018 at 17:40 | comment | added | RDFozz | @hrh - the Wikipedia article doesn't mention this as being a remake of an earlier work. It mentions a few similar works, including an adaptation of a short story by Arthur Clarke titled "All the Time in the World" (aparrently available in whole or in part at The Internet Archive).
Sep 19, 2018 at 17:32 | comment | added | RDFozz | @hrh - First, don't accept the answer given, as it's not the episode you're looking for. Edit additional information into the question to clarify why the 1980s TZ episode can't be the match (for example, what you recall was in black and white, or you saw it before the 1980s). Note that the episode that has been found may be a remake of what you recall, but can't be what you recall because of the reasons you give. There's nothing explicitly wrong with the answer given, but it's not what you're looking for.

Sep 19, 2018 at 7:50 | comment | added | hrh | To the moderators here: Should I mark this question closed and open another about an older version of this story since I am certain that it exists?
Sep 19, 2018 at 7:49 | comment | added | hrh | I still recall a non-80s looking version of this story where the housewife wears a bathrobe and hair curlers, which she didn't have in this version. The overall feel was much darker and brooding than in the 80s TZ show. In the final scene there is more than one missile and they seemed much closer to ground level. There was no zooming in visualization of the missiles - they were shown close to the ground and were grayish in color. I also don't recall a large crowd of people as in the 80s TZ version. The housewife also seemed to panic and dart back and forth in a state of confusion.
