Jan 7, 2022 at 16:35 comment added Emsley Wyatt I think that Worf, as the adopted son of a Starfleet officer, acquired Earth citizenship by virtue of that fact.

Feb 8, 2020 at 16:52 comment added 1252748 @RobertColumbia can you give some examples of “Nog’s almost fanatical worship of Earth culture”? I am curious because that is not ringing any bells.

Feb 7, 2020 at 19:45 comment added Robert Columbia @kai perhaps, but Nog's almost fanatical worship of Earth culture implies that he might have desired to go through the process of Terran naturalization (become a "real" Earthling) rather than simply seek a foreigner's waiver. The question then is whether such a process existed at all, or whether the waiver was just so much easier to get and the benefits of citizenship so low that there really wasn't much of a point.
Feb 7, 2020 at 19:38 comment added Kai Here's another thought: the Federation is supposed to be a society mostly post scarcity, post racism, and post xenophobia. Would they even put much if any limitations on citizens versus non citizens? Maybe that's why it's never really addressed that I can recall.
Feb 7, 2020 at 19:20 comment added Kai For that matter, what about Worf? Is he a Federation citizen? It seems like he's still a Klingon citizen though.
