@Valorum Miss Price also demonstrated an aptitude beyond mere study. The Professor made the rabbit transfiguration spell work, with a good deal of effort, towards the start of the third act.
Here I was thinking Arthur created the embargo while a ban on their use could have been much longer standing. It’s possible this could have left someone previously in the business of procuring and reselling imported flying carpets as being stuck with some sizable inventory.
I’m fairly certain 12 discusses this with Pond at some point, mentioning his “vanity issues” at the time, and how this was his last form. I just wish I could remember the scene.
Mental health was absolutely one of the returning themes in TNG. It’s probably due to the fact that it’s one thing that eliminating poverty, disease, and currency can’t fix. It’s definitely a part of The Mind’s Eye with La Forge’s recovery arc beginning at the end, with his unraveling the false events that were implanted into his memory.
Upvoted as it's a good thought. I think there's a minute distinction in that they are dead, as in the army of the dead. They're merely the "sleepless dead" until being released by Aragorn, following their service to the Heir of Isildur.
Considering that the only living items we know of being verified horcruxes amounts to Nagini, an already (debatable) evil snake, the fact that the other inanimate objects are imbued with evil at either the act of their creation or the nature of Voldemort himself, it seems that JK regards these things as tantamount to proper abominations. The sorting hat is contrasting my benevolent and helpful in the wizard of world.
He's regarded as being well accomplished on the field of battle which, according to the Stark sensibilities, would involve him at the forefront, directly commanding troops and making good use of Ice. This includes the Battle of the Trident, the culminating battle of King Robert's Rebellion. IIRC King Robert Baratheon made reference to his skill on the field of battle as a swordsman while en route on the Kingsroad heading south, perhaps in attempting to get him to compete in the melee meant to be in his honor as Hand.
It also sounds like it could have been the inspiration (depending on timing) for the "pod plants" from Star Trek. memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Pod_plant
In classic Bat-style, I assumed he was targeted as a known higher ranking LL/White Portuguese associate; I think he refers to him as a lieutenant in the organization. Being the sort to collect extensive intel on his enemies, it seems likely that he could guess who LL entrusted with the task and/or correlated against other LL/White Portuguese cronies for a heat map of location likelihood.
