Was Lily the sole reason for Snape being cold hearted and callous in general?
I would add an additional argument whereas having to learning to shield his mind/intentions from Voldemort, may have also been an additional factor to his coldness. Every action he makes as an adult seems very precise and with meticulous, that amount of control/discipline over ones emotion and time, may have possible been an additional factor.

How does Gandalf (or anyone) know how to destroy the Ring?
If I were to use the Joseph Campbell approach to analyzing a mythological story, one would have to pay attention to how things enter the story and how they leave. Usually if somebody enters a place by water, they also leave it by water. So perhaps this could be applied to if the ring entered by forging at mt.doom then it leaves via the same way.

How did Dumbledore, or anyone, know Lily had sacrificed herself for Harry?
@JanusBahsJacquet Speculatively it could be a backup plan; since after all, DD had known of the prophecy but didn't know whether Harry or Neville. Could he have not trusted that if Voldemort did somehow find their location, that by knowing Lily's and James' character, they would have fought, for love. I'm sure Lily would have been armed, but I doubt that alone she would have been able to do much regardless. And after all he had made the promise to not kill her, and he likes to play with his victims. Nonetheless wand or no wand, I think he would have disarmed her and offer her to step aside.

@JanusBahsJacquet The book is far back in my memory at this point, but I think somewhere in the book, James and Lily felt safe in their "safe house" and so they were walking around the house without their wands on. (Perhaps it can even be implied: Against Dumbledore's advice.) So you can only plan so much, even Dumbledore admits to have his flaws in his assumption. (Keeping Harry in the dark)

What was more powerful - the power of the ring or the willpower of Gandalf and Aragorn?
From how I am interpreting the movie, I think Aragorn may have not seen himself worthy of ruling over anybody. Therefore seeing himself unworthy of rule may have made the ring useless. But I'm interpreting that Aragorn has low self-esteem. I need to read the book

Dumbledore has a history of setting up his pieces in advance. Knowing the new circumstances he probably planned ahead for Lily to sacrifice herself knowing the prophesy told him already that Voldy is the one that would choose who would be his equal.

In the Harry Potter universe, why are spells that can affect lots of targets at once used rarely?
What I got from this is that defensive spells that require collaboration between more than one wizard foster the feeling of cooperation and mutual benefits, while multi-target offensive spells seem a bit more selfish and controlling

Do the Harry Potter books ever contradict themselves?
Maybe they are using a wizard's calendar, where the first of september is actually the seventh month instead of the ninth. Why would June July or August affect wizards, Augustus was a Roman Emperor not a Wizard's!?

Why Was Peter Pettigrew Sorted To Gryffindor?
But did he let him live out of bravery though? He was stricken by guilt for having had his life saved once before by Potter. Can you really call that brave to be guilt triped into not completing an action?

What house were James and his friends in?
Serius Black was a Gryffindor, the black sheep of the family.

How are the various Links, Zeldas and Ganondorfs related and connected?
In the Skyward sword it seemed that the Goddess of Hylia had chosen to give away her god powers to become mortal (Zelda) Perhaps as a previously eternal being might indicate that she like Ganon is a reincarnation as well. I would think that Zelda and Ganon however do not retain their memory as demise does. (Except for the cases where Ganon wasn't killed but rather imprisoned.)
